Rain, Rain Go Away...

Our calendar in 5th grade is filling up quickly!

In Social Studies this week, we had some great economics lessons from Mr. Woodward using the Junior Achievement program. The kids have loved it! They have learned about the different kinds of businesses and advertising. They then learned about interviewing for jobs and finally they were asked to create their own businesses with partners and advertise them. We had some really creative ideas!

In Science we are making huge, fabulous timelines of planet Earth. We plotted from the beginning of time through present day!

In Math we just finished our unit on volume and capacity and we will start unit 12.

Today we are attending our band and chorus concert. The kids involved have practiced a lot for this and sound great!

Our Storybook Parade is tomorrow at 2:15. Mrs. Woodward's class is representing the book, Harry Potter, and Mrs. Shane's class, The Warrior's Series.

Please continue to read for 30 minutes each night and practice reading aloud to someone at home!

Happy Vacation!

We just finished our unit on the Civil War. We watched a four minute video that you can view on the internet called, The Civil War in Four Minutes. It was from the Lincoln Library. It showed how our country changed so significantly over the four years of the war.

In Science this week we had a quiz on volcanoes. Remember that the volcano projects are due the Friday after vacation!

We completed our persuasive essays in writing and they were AWESOME!! We shared them on Thursday and Mrs. Turpin came in to hear them. She said that she'd have a hard time saying no to any of these requests because they were so well done!

In Math we have started unit 10, working on Algebra! The kids are also learning how to make
line graphs to plot data.

Have a fun, warm, and safe April vacation. Enjoy this time with your families!!
