It was very nice to meet all of our new parents at Open House, and welcome back our parents that we know from other fabulous brothers and sisters!
In Social Studies this week, we started learning about the first battle of the Revolutionary War, the Boston Massacre. We also studied the Bill of Rights in celebration of Constitution Day on Thursday.
In Everyday Math, we learned how to square and unsquare numbers. Keep practicing your multiplication facts. You must know all of them by the end of first trimester to exceed standards!
The reading materials are trickling in slowly but surely. Mrs. Sands went to a training session for Storytown, and is sure that the kids will really like it! Please make sure that your child is reading from their chosen novel at least 20 minutes each night.
In science we are continuing to learn about the layers of the earth. We are working in small groups to read about the individual layers of the earth, and then will present our findings to the class. We are also focusing on informational reading strategies.
