Spring is in the air!

Wow, the weather sure has been gorgeous! We look forward to seeing you all at parent-teacher conferences.

In social studies, we have started our research for our famous Americans project. Please look for the finished projects on Mrs. Gurley-Mozie's website. You can also listen to last year's podcasts on the SBES website. Just click to listen! When we complete ours this year, they will be available for one year so you can share them with family and friends.

In reading, we will share our Independent Book Projects (IBP) today! Students know that they have one project to do each trimester. They may pick from any of the novels that they have read for Mrs. Sands and complete three pieces: a book talk, a story map, and a project of their choosing. This is a chance for the students to really show off their creative bones!

In science, we just took an assessment covering rocks and minerals. We are ready to go on to learn about fossils!

In writing, the 5 paragraph CHOICES essay is due next Wednesday, March 17. We have learned about many topics including peer pressure, how to say no, how to deal with anger and stress, drug and alcohol awareness, and goal setting. Officer Phil gave us a tour of his police cruiser yesterday, and it was really exciting! Especially when he sounded his siren!

Don't forget that school meeting has been changed to next Friday, March 19th!
