Rain, Rain Go Away!

After a week of NECAP testing and a long holiday weekend, we started back with lots of excitement!

We are loving our new reading program. We meet every day with our whole group and work on skills like making connections to other reading, our lives, and inferring information that the author shares with only clues from the text. We then need to interpret this information using our background knowledge. We also meet in small groups every day, and practice our fluency and comprehension.

In Science we played Bingo with our vocabulary words and finished our unit on the layers of the Earth.

In Math we learned to multiply with our favorite method, the Lattice Method! We also practiced another method called partial products. In the end, kids can use the method with which they have the most comfort.

Mr. Phillips, our Superintendent, joined us again on Friday, and we shared our story endings that we started when he was last here, based on a story that he wrote called, The Land of the Free. This all started with a lesson on taxation without representation. We had a great day sharing our writing and enjoying some M & M cookies! Thank you Mr. Phillips for coming in to share this lesson with us and thank you Mrs. Boody for making some yummie cookies!
